"One of the largest fires started from Minnesota": Ford snaps back at Trump over wildfire smoke

Описание: Ontario Premier Doug Ford provided an update on the wildfires burning in the province on Monday, saying they are “expanding” from 635,000 hectares to 735,000 hectares. As of Monday morning, Ford said there were still 56 fires not under control. Thirteen communities are under evacuation orders, and there are about 1,800 evacuees.

Ford also replied to U.S. President Donald Trump's criticisms, who on Sunday told Prime Minister Mark Carney that the smoke emanating from Canada was “poisoning” the U.S.

“One of the largest fires started from Minnesota,” Ford shot back. The Ontario premier suggested if Trump removed tariffs on softwood lumber “it might make a difference… He's sitting there complaining, why don't you send up some water bombers?” Ford said.

He added, “You should support your neighbours. That's my message to the president… it drives me crazy.”
