Original NBC Game of the Week Broadcast with Bob Costas and Tony Kubek in game 2 of the 3 game series from Bush Stadium. Starting pitchers RHP Dwight Gooden for the Mets and making his first NL start for the Cardinals RHP Don Heinkel. Cardinals have a 1-0 lead after 5 (picking up a run in the bottom of the 3rd on a fielders choice) in the Mets 6th Darryl Strawberry hits his 1st Home Run of the season a 2-run shot giving the Mets the lead. St. Louis comes right back in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game at 2-2 on an RBI single from PH Willie McGee removing Dwight Gooden and is replaced by reliver Randy Myers who gets the Mets out of a jam in the 7th, as we move on to extra innings and Mets bring in veteran Don Aase to relive Myers but the Cardinals on an walk off RBI from 1B Pedro Guerrero as the Cardinals take the first two games of the three in St. Louis Dan Quisenberry with the win (1-0) and Don Aase with the loss (0-1) Recorded and Digitalized off a pre recorded DVD and was recently restored/remastered and also includes WWOR-TV News at Ten segment from 8/2/89
