This place lies right on the border between Germany and Austria, and it honestly doesn’t feel real. The scale, the silence, the reflections on the water, everything feels almost surreal.

My journey started with an electric boat ride across Königssee to the iconic St. Bartholomew’s Church, followed by a short additional ride to the starting point of the official hiking trail to Obersee. From there, the real adventure begins. Hiking alone through this untouched alpine landscape, surrounded by towering cliffs and absolute silence, is an experience that’s hard to put into words.

The trail leads to Obersee and further toward the tallest waterfall in Germany, a truly magical sight hidden deep in the Alps. This is solo hiking at its purest, peaceful, raw, and incredibly powerful.
