Meridian Mining is developing the high-grade copper-gold project Cabaçal in Brazil. The project is part of a copper-gold belt that was hidden in the archives of Rio Tinto and a private company. The company has seen a shift in its share registry from retail investors to long-only world funds and high net worth individuals. The project has generated impressive economic numbers, with an after-tax NPV of $573 million and an IRR of 58.4% at much lower metal prices than today. The company also has the Santa Elena project, which is three times the grade of Cabaçal and has the potential to contribute to the project's economics.
