In 1977, Jeanette Ralston was strangled in the back seat of her car in San Jose, California. Her killer escaped, and the case went cold.
Almost five decades later, forensic advances led police to reexamine a thumbprint on a pack of cigarettes found in her car. It matched 69‑year‑old Willie Eugene Sims, living in Ohio.
DNA collected matched DNA found under her fingernails and on the shirt used in the murder. Sims has been arrested, nearly 50 years after the crime.
Justice may be late, but it’s not denied.
