A season of lessons and progress has set the platform for Westmeath heading into 2026. Captain Fiona Coyle was speaking at the launch of the Lidl National Football League in Croke Park as the Lake County prepare to open their Division 2 campaign away to Donegal this weekend.
While Division 2 proved a tough test last season, it laid the foundations for a Leinster Intermediate Championship title and an All-Ireland semi-final run, where Westmeath narrowly lost out to eventual champions Tyrone.
With new rules in place, pre-season has been an exciting one as they look ahead to the challenges of the new campaign.
