Описание: The panel discussion proposed as part of IE Thinc series aims to address critical challenges facing Kochi's civic infrastructure and tourism sector while exploring collaborative solutions for sustainable urban development.

The city currently grapples with several key issues –– urban flooding primarily caused by inadequate drainage and drainage management systems, particularly during monsoons, growing waste management concerns affecting both residential areas and tourist zones, transportation bottlenecks including traffic congestion and last-mile connectivity issues with the metro.

On the tourism front, the city faces the complex challenge of seasonal fluctuations in tourist arrivals, and the urgent need to preserve its historic structures while balancing development, particularly in Fort Kochi.

To address these interconnected challenges, the panel discussion proposes bringing together key stakeholders from various sectors.

The 60-odd-minute discussion will focus on developing actionable recommendations for integrated infrastructure development, creating a sustainable tourism roadmap, and establishing improved coordination mechanisms between stakeholders.

Key discussion points will include integrating tourism infrastructure with civic amenities, developing sustainable solutions for urban flooding and waste management, balancing heritage conservation with modern development, exploring public-private partnership opportunities, and implementing smart city solutions.
