This piece is a personal reinterpretation of the Romanian folk ballad Miorița — a story that has echoed through the Carpathians for centuries. Inspired by its themes of fate, mystery, and quiet transcendence, I’ve reimagined the shepherd’s world through song, voice, and imagery.
While I’ve drawn from traditional lyrics and symbolism, this version does not aim to retell the original exactly, but to reflect its emotional core in a more intimate, dreamlike way , guided by the storytelling soul of folk music.
I chose to begin my Folk Around the World playlist with Romanian folklore because my partner is from Romania.
With deep respect for Romanian tradition and the spirit of Miorița, this piece is offered not as a replacement, but as a heartfelt tribute to the voices that have carried this song across generations.
