They say that Mama loves a Rolling Stone. If your Mama loves Friends too, then this Groove-A-Thon To The Grammys finale is made for her. I don't know if I can say the same about Yo Mama.
What I can say is that this inaugural issue for TSR is a real treasure for music lovers. And Friends-ologists.
For our first proper examination of music journalism's most reliable bestie, we got scoop on Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, Matthew Sweet, The Black Crowes, Sarah McLachlan and a cool Sony A/V receiver complete with a mini theater inside.
But for me, the real gem is the cover story: Friends at the peak of their craft. Rolling Stone staff writer and future Friends historian David Wild goes behind the scenes of The One Where Rachel Finds Out, finds out how the friends became THE Friends and peeks at their developing kinship with Oprah Winfrey.
If that wasn't enough, given that the story is surprisingly light on photos, which saddens me a tad bit since all six of them are supremely attractive, the previous owner of this well-worn out copy decided to add in a few magazine clippings featuring the ultra-hotties.
All in all, not bad for future Must See TV Hall Of Fame inductees Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox (the girl of my dreams), Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc. And all for 25 cents from Book Barn in Denville, NJ?
You got to love the 90s.
Also on #TheRomeroRoundup, newly-minted Black Crowes fan David gets one-on-one time with drummer Steve Gorman at Bookends in Ridgewood.
