Interruption in the Continuity of the bone is known as Fracture. It can be a Complete break or an incomplete break (Crack). This interruption in the continuity of the bone can be due to several reasons that include a direct blow with considerable force:
1) Falling from height.
2) Weight falling from a height on the body.
3) RTA
4) Low bone density
5) Osteoporosis
6) Falling on an outstretched hand.
Fractures are generally divided into two types :
1) Open fracture
2) Closed Fracture
Further Subdivisions of the Fracture depend upon the positioning of the parts of the fractured bone:
1) Twisting force / Spiral Fracture
2) Direct Blow/ Transverse or Oblique Fracture
3) Longitudinal Force/Compression fracture
4) Comminuted Fracture
5) Greenstick Fracture
