How to Avoid Kilt Pins Damaging Your Kilt

Описание: What is a kilt pin? Simply a wind weight in this day and age. Though at some periods in the past, kilt pins were used to help keep the front apron of the traditional kilt closed. For example, look at Victorian photos where the pin is worn higher up - on the lower thigh. This use became more and more superfluous as more kilts were made with hip straps.

Do you have to wear a kilt pin with a kilt? No. it is mainly an added bit of "bling" for your highland outfit, though it does indeed help with preventing the front apron from flapping about.

Kilt pins come in a shapes and sizes though the traditional design is usually long and skinny, often in the form of a sword. They may have a hinged pin and rotating clasp on the back, or two short pins with pinch-clasps.

In either case, the pin can, over time, cause visible holes in the tartan. This damage is very minor, but sometimes noticeable and unattractive. Rocky runs down the ways to minimize the effects of the kilt pin on the kilt.
