【～から〜にかけて】through; from [A] to [B]

Often goes with nouns indicating time or location.
Unlike 「～から～まで」, the beginning and end are not clear. It is also possible to omit 「～から」.


年末から年始にかけて、実家へ帰るつもりです。
I plan to return to my parents' house from the end of the year to the beginning of next year.


日本では、大学入学試験が２月から３月にかけて行われます。
In Japan, university entrance exams are held from February till March.


関東地方から東北地方にかけて地震の被害が出ています。
The earthquake caused damage from the Kanto region to the Tohoku region.
