This work is from a set of five works written as an exploration of 24-TET in a musical context. For a number of years I've been working on researching 24-TET/developing harmonic systems within 24-TET, of which a few other scores I uploaded have been examples of (i.e the piece titled 'Geothria', which is an exploration of a very unusual tetradecatonic scalar system).
However, this work (and the other four from this set) are an illustration of 24-TET in a very accessible (and ambient) context.
The chord changes in this work are, at least in my mind, beautiful. There are changes between chords that have never been heard before - akin to seeing new colours for the first time.
The drifting of notes between chords I'm referring to as 'Piscean Drifting' (due to the soft, very subtle, 'water-like' nature of the shifts).
The foundation of this work are drifts between quarter-tones: very much the musical equivalent of floating/subtle shifting of light (hence the image).
I personally feel 24-TET may be the music of the future. But this could be bias on my behalf.
RE synths: Matrixbrute is doing the subtle sea/wave sounds, and the odd distant pitches that enter are on the OB-6 (a modified form of the patch I created for the piece 'Atlantis Rises, Atlantis Falls', which I uploaded a while back). OB-6 is drifting (as it is pitched), but not the MB, as it is simply providing noise/fx.
Ps this work was originally going to be titled 'Piscean Sea'. If this set is ever released as an album (I plan on releasing it soon), I may change the title to Piscean Sea.
Enjoy/all best
Kris
