If you have chest pain, what does it signify?
It signifies that one of the arteries is getting blocked or choked and is sending you a signal.
You may feel discomfort, like a huge weight has been placed on your chest.
This may be accompanied by sweating, giddiness, difficulty breathing, and feeling very weak.
These are symptoms suggesting that a heart attack is in progress and affecting you.
There may also be chest discomfort radiating to your jaw or arms.
Do not ignore these significant warning signs.
What to Do During a Heart Attack
If you are alone at home and experience these symptoms:
Take two disprin tablets dissolved in water.
If available, take a statin tablet.
If you have sorbitrate (5 mg), place it under your tongue for relief from pain and to help contain the heart attack.
The most important action is to have the ambulance number on speed dial and call immediately to go to the hospital.
Do not panic, as stress can worsen the situation.
Relax, lie down, and make the call; wait for the ambulance or ask a relative to drive you to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
If Someone Loses Consciousness (Syncope)
About 5% of heart attacks involve syncope (loss of consciousness).
If you find someone unconscious, check their pulse at the neck (carotid pulse) and look for breathing by placing fingers under their nose.
If not breathing, start cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) immediately.
Any CPR is better than no CPR.
If an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) is available, it can save lives more effectively.
An AED is a small machine commonly found at airports, metro stations, train stations, and malls.
It comes with instructions on placing the pads on the unconscious person, analyzing the heart rhythm, and delivering a shock if needed (for conditions like ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation).
Prevention and Awareness
Know about AED and CPR.
If you have chest pain or discomfort, see your cardiologist promptly.
Preventive health checkups are the best way to protect yourself from potential heart catastrophes.
Thank you
