The review would like to introduce each and every user to the single greatest camera ever created: The Rhombus. The Rhombus is a feature-packed powerhouse with an unbelievable image quality. The user will continually find themselves in awe at the outstanding picture and video resolution. Gone are the days of pesky and confusing manual controls, the Rhombus is a modern relic, embracing the art simplification.
A convenient switch on the side of the unit can focus near or far, and that's it, no need to worry about fine-tuning focus adjustment, just click and go! A video resolution of 320 x 240 means the user can play back their Rhombus video clips on any device, even their Windows ME machine. It also means the videos take up less space and are easier on the eyes, no more pixel-crowding information overload! A monaural microphone does away with the need for proper stereo balancing, and a consistent, ever-present compressed hissing background noise eliminates any and all awkward silences! With all these and more, the user will be sure to take advantage of each and every Rhombortunity that pops up!
Joking aside, the video from this camera is objectively terrible, and the pictures are not far behind. The basic facts of the above are true: 320 x 240 resolution, compressed to all hell, a two-step focus switch (which, granted, is better than a single fixed focus lens, albeit not by much), mono microphone with ever-present background noise. The images this unit produces do have a clear 2000s aesthetic, unsurprisingly, which may be attractive to the viewer seeking nostalgia or retro vibes, but to the average consumer, even at the time, these cameras were a rough choice to make: Soft edges, noise in every context, HORRIFIC low light capability.
It is also worth noting: This camera has a major occasional issue with creating video files, several test footage clips were recorded without audio (one such was included in this video, in which the audio cut out about halfway through). Beware of this, should any user decide (for whatever reason) to film with a Rhombus, always take two videos at a time.
These units are Chinese-made rebrand cameras, as such, they go by several model numbers. It's a little bit difficult to track down if there are any real differences between each of these units, but they are at least visually identical:
