The Gates Are Closing - ASCENSION WOW TRIBUTE

He couldn't be more right. I was introduced to Blizzard back in high school when I got addicted to Warcraft II, and from there, Diablo and Diablo II. Then Warcraft III, and eventually WoW when it first released in late 2004 when I was in college.

But I quit partway through BfA. It just didn't feel like the game I used to love anymore. I haven't been back since.

I had been playing on Project Ascension for the better part of six years when a friend of mine told me about it. It was a dream come true to be able to make a warrior with Windfury, self-healing, and a pet.

Then along came Conquest of Azeroth. I joined the week the alpha was released. I loved it SO MUCH.

My first character was a Necromancer, something I had always wanted since WoW first released--I came over from Diablo II, where the Necro was my favorite character.

But then I played the Knight of Xoroth, and I fell in love almost immediately. The class was basically a hellknight, something I've always had a fondness for for several years. I love "evil" classes, and that had everything I wanted. Plate. Two-handers. Gore. Hellfire. Demon summoning and demon forms. Tank and DPS. Lots of other little flavorful spells, like the personal steed and its jumps, speed boosts, and stomp.

But alas... No king rules forever, my sons.

We didn't just lose a private server, we lost something that made the love we had for the old game feel current. We lost the ability to make friends with people from around the world.

And on a personal rant, this was an additional kick in the teeth for me. I was supposed to get surgery to heal an old injury that cost me my career and subjected me to daily pain, but Worker's Comp stabbed me in the back and cancelled my surgery and denied my claim. Then the government stepped in and took what was left of the earnings I got from my lawsuit.

Conquest of Azeroth was one of the few things that helped keep me sane despite my many losses. And now, it's gone. I don't know if I'll ever be able to play WoW again after this devastating loss.

I look forward to the new game that the Project Ascension team will be working on. Thank you, devs, for all your hard work and your talent for giving us the ride of a lifetime.
