Her son Taylor died in Nov. 2023 in Kaufman county jail within 6 days of his arrest during a mental health crisis after cycling through the state's public mental health system and county jails for 13 years. Taylor always struggled to get the appropriate level and length of care, always getting discharged too soon or too unstable, only to end up in county jails.
