While I don’t have a problem paying for quality luthier tools, some ideas appear so basic that it’s not worth paying for the high-quality option.
In this video, I use a piece of 8 AWG solid copper grounding wire and some leftover copper foil tape to make a heat stick for removing acoustic guitar necks and archtops.
A heat stick is used in combination with drilling a hole through the fretboard such that you can apply heat to a guitar neck joint. The heat loosens up the glue (usually hide glue on older and vintage guitars), which allows you to take the guitar neck off for repair.
