In bouldering, you’ll be making mistakes. You’ll be falling, you’ll be tired and you’ll be left discouraged. In this video, I explain how to turn disappointing bouldering failures into teachable moments of climbing inspiration and motivation.
🔸 Today, I’ll share this skill with you and I’ll illustrate it with the lessons drawn from three tricky classic boulder problems of Fontainebleau: Marie-Rose, L'Angle Allain, and Le Toit de Cul de Chien. Each of these classic blocs presents unique challenges, from technical footholds and tricky slopers to balance issues and core tension struggles.
🔸 Every failure on these boulders taught us something valuable, turning setbacks into stepping stones for improvement: we’ve learnt not to underestimate lower grades in Fontainebleau, preparing and warming up thoroughly, considering the type of shoes you’re wearing, practicing balance near arretes, being mindful of injury risks and the value of analyzing footage. We left Fontainebleau after the trip with a bag of tricks that was larger than the one we arrived with.
