World premiere performance of 'Eiki Koe 'Ofa 'A'Au (O Lord your precious love) by Tupou College Brass Band (musical director: Rev 'Eloni Nui) at the 2025 Tongan Secondary School Brass Band Music Festival
This setting of Tongan hymn 'Eiki Koe 'Ofa 'A'Au (translating to O Lord your precious love) was commissioned by Tupou College Brass Band to celebrate the centenary of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga Annual Conference. It was premiered by the commissioning ensemble under the musical direction of Rev 'Eloni Niu and Sione Malekamu Manu.
The hymn 'Eiki Koe 'Ofa 'A'Au serves as a sinner's heartfelt expression of gratitude, emphasising the eternal hope found within the Tongan Christian faith in the unique and unparalleled love of Jesus Christ. McCunnie's setting uses two tunes set to the Tongan text, culminating in a grand conclusion.
