In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, a neighbor of Debabrata Mohanty, Deputy Director of Mines, Cuttack Circle, expressed shock after the Odisha Vigilance Directorate conducted a raid at his residence and recovered over ₹4 crore in cash. The neighbor said they were aware that a mines officer lived nearby but had no idea that such a massive cash stash existed, and only learned about it when the vigilance raid took place. Officials noted this seizure is one of the largest single cash recoveries in Odisha Vigilance history, highlighting the scale of ongoing anti-corruption operations in the state and prompting further investigations under the Prevention of Corruption Act to trace potential illicit assets.
