Do you know what is meant when politicians, scientists or news reporters talk about data? Our STEM tutor Jo will discuss what data is and look at a few ways it can be collected and graphed to help us learn and share information about a subject. Following on from our previous video we’ll stick with the subject of trees in our attempt to unravel the world of data driven science.
Jo will collect information or “data” about trees in her local area and then convert that data into pie charts and bar graphs, discussing which graph is best for the information she collects. She’ll also show you how to make your own clinometer for measuring tree height and give some examples of how to spot misleading data in graphs and charts in media.
