Tests carried out on 144 and 29MHz over a 138 mile path, using horizontal polarisation. GW3TWP running 400 watts on 29 MHZ and 100 watts on 144 MHz.
The path exists on both bands all the time, as far as can be seen so far. Both bands have the same flutter. Signals have a wide variation in strength.
29 MHz propagation woul d have been to the east at 09:00 utc, so back scatter is not thought to be a factor in the flutter / multipath. Further evidence is the fact that back scatter would not exist on 144 MHz and the characteristics on both bands are the same.
