Exploring the value of the farm treescape through whole farm tree planning - Soil Association

Описание: This webinar on Farm Treescapes explores the key findings from the Whole Farm Tree Project.

Based on an innovative project to develop and pilot the concept of whole farm tree planning, including a farm treescape functional assessment, Soil Association is keen to disseminate the learning from the project to a range of practitioners including farmers, foresters, advisors and the wider environmental sector.

We hear from Anna Biesty, farmer at Deepdale Farm in North Norfolk, about her experience as a pilot project farmer on the Whole Farm Treescape project.

Deepdale Farm is a 300ha organic arable farm, bordering an SSSI and sitting within the Norfolk Coast National Landscape, the farm is committed to nature friendly farming practices.

As well as combinable crops, clover leys and environmental stewardship, the farm has 30ha of woodland and about 25km of hedgerows. For the last 5 years, the farm has been in a mid-tier countryside stewardship scheme, focused on building soil health alongside food production. As this comes to an end, the farm is looking to integrate more livestock, potentially introduce agroforestry and start implementing their woodland management plan.

The Whole Farm Tree Planning project was funded by the Forestry Commission through Woods into Management Forestry Innovation Fund (WIMFIF).
