How do you get Jules out of a tree?
When you get close enough, he will respond to you from a branch of a tall tree. Get beneath Jules and you will be able to beckon to him, but he is in a panic and won't come down, rambling about seeing a monster. Go and get his skiff, which will be stuck against a nearby fallen tree.
The known monster is the LEGENDARY ALLIGATOR (Bull Gator).
The Legendary Alligator (Bull Gator) is one of 16 legendary animals that can be hunted and skinned in Red Dead Redemption 2. Killing the aquatic creature will drop the Legendary Alligator Skin and Legendary Alligator Tooth, which can be sold to a Trapper or a Fence for crafting.
