How to make your own dragonfly sculpture PART 1

Описание: DIY project! Make your own dragonfly and flower sculpture. PART 1 dragonfly, PART 2 is the flower, vines and base, which will be out soon.
I put this together in about 35 minutes with my @forney 270MIG welder and .030 MIG wire , running 75/25 CO/Argon mid shielding gas. You could use gasless welding set up as well, or get more details with TIG. But for the fast production just before a show, I'll usually choose MIG for less clean up and fast assembly.
This piece is party easy to make yourself and you can take longer and add more detail if you like. It's made from these parts:

A heavy object, or flat wider object, to serve as a sturdy base. I just had an old gear gym the rear end of a car these was salvage and makes a steady base.

A 5-inch bolt or machine screw, around 3/16" width, several nuts to go on the screw, and a spring that can slip on the screw.

Six regular steel forks. Preferably not too long prongs like in this example. You can cut them shorter and sand them thinner if you like.

4 fork handles, or any flatware handle that's steel should work fine. It's best to use handles that aren't too thick. The ones in the video were a good shape too.

For you efficient pros or newbies, a great way to save time is to find old 2D metal wall sconces or decor, and bend it to create 3 dimensional pieces to implement into your art. I had these old vine/leaf pieces from a wall-mount scrap candle holder back.

In part two, you will need some flatware handles and one 3/4" length 1/4" hex bolt.

So have fun with using any of the process you see in the video if you are wanting to try your hand at sculpting metal. Add your creativity and make it your own style!
