With so many species of reptiles and amphibia, Florida herping can't be beat! However, the Striped Newt (Notophthalmus perstriatus) Salamander has nearly disappeared from tallahassee's depressional wetlands. In this episode, Peter teams up with herpetologist Pierson Hill to conduct a dip netting survey for these elusive aquatic amphibians.
Along the way, we'll see a mid-metamorphasis Gopher Frog (Lithobates capito), tadpoles of the Southern Cricket Frog (Acris gryllus) and a nest full of Red Winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus) eggs.
