Hollow form wood turning - Resinist epoxy and cherry burl woodturning

Описание: Welcome back! In this hollow form video I'll be casting a cherry wood burl in resinist epoxy and turning it into a hollow form. I didn't record the finish but if you're interested this is how I do them. Link below.

So on to the show with the details. I was reached out to by Resinist epoxy to give their product a try. I figured why not, if part of my duty is to know about different epoxies then sure, why not. It is 1:1 by volume with a 30 min pot life (how long you have from mixing to it starts to cure; depending on temp). It took the Eye Candy mica powders and Alumilite dye well. Gave good thermals for swirls in the epoxy. It isn't too hard when turning. Over all good stuff.

Once I saw the top of the casting with the colors and swirls I immediately knew the shape it was going to be. I wanted to capture as much of that pattern as I could. After the shape was finished and sanded, I knew I had to throw dye on it. I was 100% worried no doubt lol. But i've learned those fears are where you jump! They work out 😉.
