Located about 20km from Lao Cai city center, Ta Phoi – Hop Thanh market is held every Sunday morning as a vibrant space for ethnic culture and community trade.
Unlike bustling urban markets, this market still retains its authentic rural charm. Farmers and artisans from highland villages - belonging to the Mong, Dao, Tay, Giay and Xa Pho ethnic groups - gather here with hand-woven baskets, filled with freshly harvested agricultural products: corn, potatoes, cassava, free-range poultry and rare wild herbs.
Not only a place for buying and selling, Ta Phoi market is also an important cultural site. It hosts community meetings, folk performances and educational programs - serving both commerce and cultural preservation.
