Involved Single Unit Fire. Atlanta GA. 10-7-23.

Описание: 10/7/23 - Just before 1pm, Atlanta Fire Engine 2 was dispatched on a single unit response to the 900 block of New Town Circle SE for a report of smoke in the area.

Engine 10 was returning from a previous alarm and took in the alarm with E02 after reading the CAD notes and knowing the history of the property.

Atlanta Firefighters arrived at the apartment complex and found a large column of smoke coming from the middle of the abandon apartments buildings.

E02 upgraded the alarm and began stretching 3in supply. E10 laid 300ft of LDH and relayed to E02 from a permanent water supply.

E10’s crew of (6) was split with the Alpha Team assisting E02 with getting 800ft of 3in supply on the ground and deploying (2) 1.75in attack lines. E10’s Bravo Team was assigned to begin searching the building.

Even though this property has been vacated and ultimately abandoned, E02 & E10 are well aware that the property is inhabited by numerous homeless people.

That is why even though the buildings are not “occupied,” searching the buildings is a primary concern for Atlanta Firefighters. Ladder 2 arrived soon after and was also assigned to search adjacent apartments.

Atlanta Firefighters attempted to mount an offensive interior attack to protect searches being be conducted in the main fire building & the adjacent apartments but deteriorating conditions from the already dilapidated structure quickly dictated the operation move defensive.

All searches conducted were negative for anyone trapped.

Nearly 40 Atlanta Firefighters responded to this structure fire and they did a tremendous job working together to overcome several obstacles at this fire.

It’s a testament to the training, skill, and resolve of Atlanta’s Firefighters!
