Local residents immediately protested and halted the construction work. Following the uproar, the Bhograi administration and Talsari Marine Police reached the spot, seizing the road roller machine and a sand-laden truck.
In a separate incident, alert locals intercepted a truck smuggling sand from Bhadrak to West Bengal using forged documents. While the police have detained the vehicle, locals are expressing deep anger toward the district administration and the mining department for their alleged negligence in stopping daily illegal sand transportation across the border.
