Situated in the “Limestone Capital of the World,” Bedford’s Monon Station played a key role in shipping tons of Indiana limestone to construct prominent buildings like the Pentagon and the Empire State Building. The depot also doubled as a passenger station for travelers heading to Chicago or students leaving for and returning from college. But now the historic Monon Station sits dilapidated and empty and has landed on Indiana Landmarks 10 Most Endangered List.
