Traditional Gur/Jaggery Making Process in | KPK |Pakistan | JAGGERY MAKING/ Gurr making/ Village Life in Pakistan Gurr/Jaggery can be used as a substitute for sugar in our rural areas. Mostly our people like to use Gur/Jaggery in Milk tea and take pill of jaggery with peshawari Qahwa, other desserts as a substitute for sugar. One may directly use sugarcane juice as a drink but there is a need to wash and clean the sugarcane properly. Gurr is boiled in water and after cooling, it can be used as a cold drink in summers. It has cooling effects. Even in urban areas, people do use Gurr/Jaggery instead of sugar for having some change taste. Jaggery/Gurr is the traditional sweet obtained from the sugarcane. I did visit to a Gurr ganray (Jaggery Mill) (Ghanray is a local term used for that traditional setup, where the process of Jaggery/ Gurr making is done. This process is very simple and can be completed within few simple steps as I have shown in this video.
