The French brand has just launched the DrumBrute Impact 1984 – but in reality, the story of DrumBrute began in 2016. Back then, we were at FutureMusic Expo alongside the On Off magazine bros; and right at that time, Arturia was entering the world of fully analog drum machines.
Two years later, the little Impact would arrive (2018). And the legacy of DrumBrute lives on and it's now available again with the new special designed Impact 1984; it is a drum machine designed for producers and performers looking for "raw and uninhibited drum sequences", as highlighted by the company itself.
In colours familiar to techno minds
Today, that same powerful ten-voice analog drum machine has been re-imagined in a timeless off-white finish, so to speak. The DrumBrute Impact 1984 fuses analog percussion with a 64-step polyrhythmic sequencer and modern sound extras into a compact, instantly satisfying beat-making unit.
With its "challenging analog sound", the DrumBrute Impact 1984 is a drum machine "for discerning musicians looking for raw power and monstrous sound" – that’s how it’s introduced. Tweak the color, amp up the distortion, and take your polyrhythms further than ever before. Because this is all about punch.
The fierce sound of DrumBrute, in a beautiful and exclusive package
From crisp, quantized hits to quantize-free jams, DrumBrute Impact 1984 is capable of adapting to many styles. And with multiple outputs, MIDI and sync, it fits into any studio or live session setup.
It unleashes aggressive, modifiable sounds, "with a serious attitude that gives a powerful touch to your tracks". And each drum voice is further enhanced with the programmable ' Color ' option, capable of bringing a unique style to each beat.
Redesigned look: DrumBrute Impact 1984 – that year, we say no more
In true Arturia style, Arturia only needs to specify a specific year to channel its intentions , without giving any further indications . They may do so with caution, but we have no doubt that they are displaying their elegance above all. And it is quite obvious that DrumBrute Impact 1984 presents a bold and nostalgic design, which combines a vintage-inspired aesthetic with modern functionality.
That striking off-white color makes this drum machine a standout addition to any studio or live setup. And because of its live nature, it offers instant control over all sonic parameters, plus features like step repeat, pattern looper , and mute/ solo groups for generating dynamic, shifting beats and increased expressiveness.
Vital details: This is the Arturia DrumBrute Impact 1984 at a glance
Ten analog drum sounds : Kick, '1' and '2' snares, high/low toms, cowbell, cut cymbal, open/closed hi-hat, and FM sound

'Color' adds distortion, emphasis on transients, and harmonic variations per instrument
Offers 'Looper' and 'Roller' for fills and real-time effects
DrumBrute Impact 1984 's 'Song' mode chains up to 16 patterns and supports full compositions
'Swing' and 'Randomness' allow for more groove and spontaneous variations
Features four individual audio outputs on 3.5″ minijacks for flexible routing, mixing, and independent processing
It is fully compatible with DAW software, synthesizers, and other external hardware via MIDI, USB, and clock.
Headphone output with dedicated metronome, ideal for live performance
Price and availability
We are already seeing prices announced for €299 , and it seems that availability will be more or less immediate. This implies that stores are already organizing pre-order lists. And one detail worth noting is that this is a special edition model, but not a limited one. However, if demand is not high, it could become a coveted item if they do not extend its production.
