Next level stainless steel: ideas for every boat - Episode #2 of 3

Описание: In this series we want to share the upgrades we have made to UTOPIA, some we would absolutely do again as we could not imagine living without, others are wonderful to have as they have made life more comfortable and then there are a few that we now know we can live without, so would not do again. We hope some of our ideas will be helpful, as many ideas from sailing channels were useful to us when we were “building” Utopia.

We are still dealing with Leopard Catamarans regarding warranty items that are ongoing and have been since leaving Cape Town on the 12 September 2023 to embark on our Atlantic crossing:

Even though we were asked by Leopard Catamarans to make the long journey to the Leopard dock in Florida, where we were assured they would be waiting and ready to complete the outstanding warranty issues in 5 days. We left the USA for the Bahamas in November 2024 with a few of the major issues still unresolved, this after sitting on the Leopard dock for 23 days and leaving without our Flir camera and since discovering our Wake-speed regulators still have the same unstable issues.
Leopard sent a wonderful technician to us in George Town, who sorted a few of the outstanding issues out but discovered an additional problem with the wiring in the mast.
We will continue with updates on Leopards behavior regarding the remaining Leopard warranty issues, fully reported on YouTube as we work through the unresolved issues.
We will do our best to keep it all as accurate and truthful as possible, the good & the bad.

To say that dealing with Leopard Catamarans has been challenging, in so far as Leopard’s warranty is concerned, is a gross understatement. We spent months trying to get them to review and understand a few small remaining approvals. Up until recently Flir warranty and Raymarine warranty support had been non-existent, that has changed they have been very supportive over the last few weeks.
Leopard Catamarans need to shed the bureaucracy and take action on the repairs and refunds. The biggest issue has been the lack of communication and indeed really poor communication. So the actual issues themselves, are far less issues than Leopards responses or lack of responses. That is the main issue! These problems can be experienced on a Leopard 42, Leopard 45 as well as any Leopard Catamaran. In fact, they could potentially happen on a Lagoon catamaran or Bali catamaran, or a Fontein Pajot catamaran or any other yacht for that matter. So, if you are planning to attend an up upcoming boat show, especially to see a Leopard catamaran, please chat to your yacht broker. Most of these are known issues, and we hope this info will help you avoid drama and disaster during your ocean passages.

We are almost over the line with Leopard warranties, there are just a few last issues ... We are hanging on, as the end is near.
