US Navy Amphibious Ready Group Explained: A Floating Invasion Force

The ARG deploys a marine expeditionary unit (MEU), with multiple MEUs combining to form the marine expeditionary brigade and the marine expeditionary force. The US Marine Corps is supported in amphibious operations by the air-cushioned landing craft (LCAC), amphibious combat vehicles (ACV), the F-35B STOVL stealth fighter, the MV-22B Osprey, the AH-1Z Viper attack helicopter, and the CH-53K King Stallion heavy transport helicopters. The ARG represents the US military's ultimate amphibious sealift capability.
