In Babylon’s city, a prophet named Dan
A faithful, wise, and courageous man
He prayed to the Lord, both morning and night
While others did envy, he walked in the light.
Oh, Daniel, dear Daniel, he trusted the Lord
He feared not the lions, or the king’s decree word
He bowed not to idols, nor trembled in fear
For Daniel knew well that his God was quite near.
The wicked officials, with jealousy burned
A trap for the prophet, they quickly had turned
"No prayers to your God!" the king made the rule
But Daniel stood firm, to him, it was cruel.
In the den he was thrown, with the beasts made to roar
The entrance was sealed, the king paced the floor
But a bright shining angel, the Lord did dispatch
To lock up the lions, and keep on the watch.
When morning arrived, the king ran to see
"Did your God save you? Oh, answer to me!"
"My God sent an angel!" bold Daniel did cry,
"The lions are hungry, but still, I won't die!".
Oh, Daniel, dear Daniel, he trusted the Lord
He feared not the lions, or the king’s decree word
He bowed not to idols, nor trembled in fear
For Daniel knew well that his God was quite near.
