Master’s Keep releases are usually where Wild Turkey flexes its age, character, and barrel influence — but Beacon is one of those pours where the jury is still out. There’s clearly depth, maturity, and classic Russell-family DNA here, but it also comes wrapped in a surprisingly heavy blanket of ethanol that takes some time (and patience) to work through.

👃 Nose:

Bold, sharp, and a bit stubborn at first.
A blast of ethanol jumps out right away, partially muting the layers underneath. With air, caramel, seasoned oak, cherry cola, and vanilla start to surface. There is classic Turkey funk hiding in there, along with a touch of citrus and pipe tobacco — but it takes effort to coax it out. This is a nose that may need real time in the glass.

👅 Palate:

Promising, powerful… but still prickly.
Sweet toffee, dark honey, and roasted nuts lead the way before the proof swings in hard with a still-present ethanol edge. Underneath, Beacon shows flashes of brilliance: cinnamon bark, dried stone fruit, clove, leather, and charred oak. The components are there — they just aren’t fully synchronized yet. You can tell it wants to open up into something deeper.

🔥 Finish:

Long, warm, and slightly sharp.
Oak spice, caramel, vanilla, and tobacco linger well, but the finish carries a noticeable ethanol prickle that keeps it from settling into full elegance. The Kentucky hug is real… maybe a little too real right now.

✅ Verdict:

Beacon feels like a pour that’s still waking up. The maturity, oak-driven complexity, and Wild Turkey soul are absolutely present — but the ethanol is riding shotgun in a way that holds it back from greatness for now. With more glass time (or some bottle air over the next few weeks), it could very well level out into something special.

For now, the book isn’t closed. The jury is still out — there’s potential here, but patience might be the key to unlocking it.
