This 25:07-minute documentary film provides information and insights into currently common and emerging techniques for plant breeding. It was created to augment curriculum at universities and colleges in California where plant science, agricultural production and general plant biology courses are offered and in specific, the University of California, Davis, California State University, Chico, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, California State University, Fresno, Bakersfield College, Madera College, Santa Rosa Community College, Hartnell College and ALBA, the Agriculture and Land-Based Training Association. The film is part of a 25-part series of educational films that have been created as part of the project, Development of Teaching Modules to Support California’s Vegetable Crops Industry, that has been sponsored by the California Department of Food and Agriculture's Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (23-0001-017-SF).
The film features, UC Davis Distinguished Professor and former Director of the UC Davis Genome Center, Dr. Richard MIchelmore, and two of his PhD students, Amber Flores and Luis Salazar.
