The Fascial Net Plastination Project, established in 2018, is an anatomical research initiative dedicated to plastinating and studying the human fascial network. Spearheaded by Dr. Robert Schleip, the project represents a collaborative effort between the Fascia Research Society, the Fascia Research Group, BodyWorlds, and von Hagens Plastination. Its primary focus is the preservation and exploration of fascia, a complex connective tissue network vital to the body's structure and function.
The project was designed to provide a detailed and tangible understanding of the fascial system through plastination. This technique, pioneered by Gunther von Hagens, involves replacing water in biological tissues with polymers, creating durable, life-like 3D anatomical specimens.
The project's key objectives include:
1. Enhancing Educational Outreach: By producing highly detailed and long-lasting plastinated specimens, the project aims to enrich anatomical education for both medical professionals and the public.
2. Advancing Research: Plastinated fascia specimens offer unique opportunities for in-depth anatomical studies, fostering a deeper understanding of fascia's structure and function.
3. Public Exhibitions: Specimens are showcased in Body Worlds museum in Berlin and at the University of Padua, in Italy offering an unparalleled public view of the human fascial system.
The Traveling Collection was created by the FNPP collaboration for the purpose of bringing fascia education to audiences worldwide at interdisciplinary scientific events. We are grateful to each and every individual who has given of their time and expertise to make this beautiful collection possible.
And to the donors and their families who chose to add the advancement of anatomical knowledge and education as a part of their lasting legacy, we are deeply grateful for their gift.
