The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2024 the International Year of CAMELIDS (IYC 2024). FAO is the lead agency for celebrating the year in collaboration with other relevant organizations and bodies of the United Nations system. IYC 2024 is an opportunity to showcase and raise awareness among the public of the economic and cultural importance of camelids and to foster the consumption of the goods produced from these mammals, including edible goods, to contribute to the eradication of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition.
