Iranian state media say the death toll from a strike on the Shajarah Tayyebeh girls’ school in Minab has risen to 165, with dozens more wounded in what officials describe as one of the deadliest incidents since the start of US–Israeli strikes on Iranian territory. Authorities in Tehran have blamed joint American and Israeli operations for the attack, while both Israel and the United States say they are reviewing the reports and have not confirmed involvement.
Iran’s Health Ministry spokesperson Hossein Kermanpour said many of the victims were “young martyrs,” highlighting the heavy toll on children. The Red Crescent and state media reported the death toll climbed sharply as bodies were recovered from the rubble. Verified footage showed extensive destruction at the school site, with rescue efforts underway.
The strike comes amid escalating regional conflict following surprise US and Israeli attacks on Iranian military infrastructure and the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has since launched missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli-linked sites and US bases across the Middle East, raising fears of a broader regional war.
Diplomats warn that mounting casualties and cross-border strikes have pushed the Iran–US–Israel confrontation into its most dangerous phase in decades.
