Homemade V-plow. Easy and cheap DIY tow behind snow plow.

We made this plow out of used 2x8" boards, and you could easily make it taller by adding additional boards on top . Length is about 260 cm and width is 190 cm. Plywood on front is used to deflect snow, and keep it from riding up over the plow.

Very easy to mount. The only thing that takes a little time, is putting the snow chains on the tires. But with some practise, this only takes 5 minutes.
With really heavy wet snow, you can either screw a milk crate or similar to the plywood on the front, and fill it with some stones, or just strap something kinda' heavy to it.
But this is usually not necessary. As long as the tow point on the front of the plow i mounted as high up as possible, the plow doesn't lift.
It also help to commit when driving. Don't go too slow. I find that 25-30 km/h or faster works best.

Downside is that it is hard to turn around in narrow passages, but the plow is light enough, that you can just pick it up, turn the car, and hook it on again. This can be somewhat remedied if you use a solid rod/board to connect the plow to the car, instead of a tow strap.
In that case you can back up i little with the plow still on. Most times enough for you to be able to do a 3-point turn.

If one rod is connect directly to the hitch, and a second rod connected is connected from a different part of the plow to the rear tow eye, the position on the plow is totally controlled, but it will break if you hit something, as the plow won't just swing out of the way. So depending on the circumstance, your mileage may vary.

I like to keep it simple with just a strap. When heavy snow is falling, I just go out a couple of times during the snowfall, and take a quick drive along the gravel road to keep the snow at bay.
