I traveled to the Red River Gorge in Kentucky to go hiking and backpacking - but I couldn't pass up this kayak tour of a flooded mine.
The Gorge Underground is a kayak experience in a former limestone mine that flooded. It's been abandoned - from mining, anyway - for decades, and is now used for kayak tours.
You learn the history of the mine along the way, and there are some fun surprises, too. Keep an eye out for fish!
If you're looking for things to do in the Red River Gorge, KY area, this underground kayak tour is a great activity - interesting and fun - I definitely recommend it!
This is an easy kayak tour. It's easy to follow the guides and each person has a head lamp on their helmet. There's nothing complicated to paddle around - they do warn you not to run full speed into the walls, though. It's fun and relaxing and a great activity when you're visiting the Gorge.
