Christ Way Church welcomes you to hear a powerful message from Pastor Annu Mahesh. The title is “ Lukewarm faith: The secret barrier to your blessings”.

The greatest danger of a believer is not persecution, poverty or sickness but it is spiritual comfort and lukewarmness. Imagine a person who looks rich, well dressed and successful but inside he is weak, sick and blind. Outward appearance can hide inward reality. In revelation 3.15- 18, the church of Laodicea looks spiritually rich and successful but Jesus saw their true condition. Jesus gives them three powerful instructions that can transform any believers spiritual life. This message is god’s mirror for us today.

Lukewarmness is spiritual poverty. It is a spiritual state in which a believer is neither fully devoted to God nor completely away from him. They still believe in God, attend church, speak the spiritual language but their hearts are not burning with love, hunger and obedience. They are spiritually comfortable, passive, self satisfied. They pray without passion, read the word without hunger, don’t love to serve God from their heart. Lukewarmness is dangerous because it deceives us. Jesus told the church in Laodicea that because they are lukewarm, neither cold nor hot, He will vomit them from His mouth. Lukewarm believers are spiritually unstable. Our spirit needs righteousness of God. We need deep spiritual life which will connect to God then only our situations will change. We will be lukewarm by not spending enough time with God, neglecting prayer and fellowship, allowing worldly distractions to replace spiritual priority. Overtime their hearts become dull towards God, their faith becomes passive and comfortable and they are spiritually unprotected. Spiritual richness means that we always feel content and happy. We will realise that God is there for us . Lukewarmness is not just weakness but it is a created condition of a believer because they were giving importance to all other things. Lukewarmness is dangerous. Jesus gives us a warning of love. In reality lukewarm believers are spiritually naked, poor and blind. Jesus told us that in order to get solution for our problems we need these three things. He has commanded us to buy from Him gold refined by the fire so that we will be rich . Gold represents genuine faith. Our faith needs to be refined by the fire. Our trials and problems expose our heart, how much dirt is there. All that dirt has to be cleansed. Pick them up and put them in purifying water. Don’t throw them in dustbin and say the other person is the problem. We should have faith that the dirt should not be there and our pressure is to cleanse us. The second one we need is white garments. It represents the gift of righteousness that Jesus Christ has given to us when we were born again. We are called the righteousness of God. Humbly acknowledge that we are the righteousness of God and live with the fear of God. Lastly anoint your eyes with eye salve so that you may see. Reading and meditating the word of God and listening to pastor’s messages open our spiritual eyes . When we live as lukewarm Christians we lose god’s protection, guidance, provision and expose ourselves to additional struggles.
