Описание: A surprise Box Office success in 1954, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS is still entertaining fans of both musicals and westerns. Reunited for a fond look back at the production are Russ Tamblyn and Ruta Kilmonis, rechristened Ruta Lee. She was so new to films, the studio used Ruta’s original surname in the original credits. Both performers joined Rob Word on A WORD ON WESTERNS to recall the hit musical western and the legacy and fans it continues to gain.

While SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS was Ruta’s first feature film, Russ had begun as a child actor. He was becoming known for his on screen performances and his amazing ability as an acrobatic tumbler. He wasn’t a dancer, but the studio wanted a couple actors for marquee value, the other being former ball player Jeff Richards. Top billed were singers Howard Keel and Jane Powell.

The premise of the film was simple. Set in 1850s Oregon, backwoodsman Keel brings his new bride, Powell, home to his ranch and convinces his six brothers to head to town and bring back 6 brides. What? A mass kidnapping with dancing brothers and songs!
