Electric motors are used in many devices to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. There are situations of unexpected shutdowns of devices, damage to overcurrent protection or disturbances in the electrical installation. In order to diagnose the causes of instantaneous current surges, especially when starting the engine, we recommend the use of the Sonel PQM-707 power quality analyzer, equipped with the inrush current measurement function.
The tested object is a three-phase asynchronous AC electric motor used in a universal lathe. A Sonel PQM-707 analyzer with Sonel C-7A current clamps was used for the test.
