The Bas van Lier 3 does not beat around the bush: they are energetic, creative and decidedly accessible.

With his assertive performance van Lier grabs your attention and does not let go. Inspired by Monk, Medesky and Ramsey Lewis he creates his own distinctive style that appeals to a broad audience.

The trio is equally at ease playing the music of Duke Ellington and Charles Mingus as that of Lykke Li, Bette Midler or Bobby Sentry.
Because of their compelling choice of repertoire, the listener will continuously be surprised and carried away.

Titled “Groove or Dare” the Bas van Lier3 performs “high energy jazz with a twist of soul and blues”.
Vivacious, dynamic and ultra-swinging.

A very versatile and renowned musician Bas van Lier has been the driving force behind many different bands including “De Deeldeliers”, which extensively and successfully toured theatres and festivals throughout western Europe (with famous Dutch poet and musician Jules Deelder), Bl3nder, a band consisting of a cutting edge rapper and jazz trio which performs on all the major concert stages and festivals (with renowned rapper Def.P), superswamp, and the much sought after Bas van Lier3.
In addition he has performed with many prestigious musicians including world renowned saxophone virtuoso Hans Dulfer with whom he performed as pianist for many years. Van Lier presented and organized a very successful “Friday Night Live at Toomler”, a comedy night combined with a jazz concert series for over 10 years.

After several years of pursuing his second love the hammond organ, Bas van Lier has now returned to the traditional piano-trio format.

Their new album will be released in april 2017
