Today we are going to see a herb that God has spread everywhere. Anywhere you go, this Sambhalu or Nirgudi as it is called in Maharashtra, this is surely found. You find it all over the place.

When we bought this plot for our ashram before 40 years, then in that plot, there were 4-5 bushes of Nirgudi plant and only1-2 pangara trees and cactus. Other than that there were no plants. Nothing else, people even took away the pangara plant for the wood. But this Sambhala nobody takes, this we get easily. There are two varieties and the better variety is with the serrated margin of the leaf. When we look at this leaf, we see that it has these minute teeth. So this variety of the herb is more useful therapeutically, it is understood like that. This is a remedy par excellence.
Specially the pain due to rheumatism, it is troublesome throughout the year. It is increasing and decreasing periodically, but never stops hurting. The pain radiates and moves from one joint to another and is very troublesome. As it is there is pain, to add to it there is swelling, inflammation. For both these problems, this is an excellent home remedy. People get very anxious and panicky and run helter shelter, take strong chemicals like steroids. Pain will surely reduce, but we wish to cure the disease and that too without any adverse reaction. Therefore this is an effective home remedy.

How to use this herb? This is Shanti oil specifically prepared for joint pain. It is called Shanti (to pacify) because it doesn’t increase the heat and reduce pain temporarily. By using it for 4-5 days, once it properly percolates inside the tissues, it can reduce any type of pain.

In case the disease is in advanced stage, along with the oil, one can use this herb. Also if it is just a beginning and one feels there is little swelling or pain, then also this herb can be used. This Shanti oil, while sitting or watching television or chitchatting etc, can be applied gently on joints, fingers etc. This will keep them flexible. Santulan Shanti oil is effective by itself, to enhance its effect, Nirgudi leaves can also be used.

First apply Shanti oil on the affected area, apply some oil to the leaves too. You can use any nirgudi leaves that are available. These ones are little difficult to find, while these ones are easy to find. So, apply some oil on leaves, keep them on the hot pan, roast a little and place them on the joint and cover with a cloth. Repeat the same 2-3 times. Or else crush the leaves, add little oil and tie in cloth to make potli. Heat this potli and use for fomenting. Or else crush the leaves to make paste and apply on affected area and cover with cloth.
This remedy will help to reduce the swelling and pain. As the name suggests, this herb will protect you.
