Twelve people deliberating a quadruple murder just asked for the weapon. The jury in the Paul Caneiro trial sent two questions to the judge, and the second one stops you cold: they want to see Exhibit S313. The knife.
Paul Caneiro is accused of murdering his brother Keith, his sister-in-law Jennifer, and their two children, 11-year-old Jesse and 8-year-old Sophia, in Colts Neck, New Jersey on November 20, 2018. After weeks of testimony, closing arguments, and final jury instructions, these twelve jurors are now locked in deliberations with the weight of four lives in their hands. Their first question was procedural, asking about the verdict sheet. Their second question was not.
Watch the judge arrange for the knife to be delivered to the jury room. Brown paper on the table. Nitrile gloves for anyone who wants to handle it. And then twelve people go back behind that closed door with the murder weapon sitting in front of them.

📖 CASE BACKGROUND
November 20, 2018: Firefighters found Keith Caneiro, 50, shot five times on his front lawn. Inside the burning mansion: his wife Jennifer, 45, and children Jesse and Sophia, all stabbed. The children died from smoke inhalation.
Hours earlier, a fire broke out at Paul's home eleven miles away. Prosecutors call it a "ruse" to divert suspicion. The motive: Keith had discovered Paul stealing from their businesses and family trusts, and sent an email cutting off Paul's $225,000 salary the night before.
Paul Caneiro, 59, has been jailed without bail for over seven years. If convicted, he dies in prison.
